Joy of Luck #7: My Rainbows

Today is the last Joy of Luck assignment, and it ends on a high note.  We are to consider (and photograph) our own personal rainbow, in a metaphorical sense.  What will bring me luck in the future?  What blessings do I have to look forward to?  That one was pretty easy for me, since my family is such a blessing and I can only consider myself lucky for having the people and babies in my life that I do.

Obviously I didn't need to take this photo assignment literally and dress my kids in rainbows, but as luck would have it, Daddy put Jax in his multi-colored pj's last night.  And I already have some photos I love of Em wearing her rainbow-striped sweater last fall (you can peruse them here, if you'd like, but I'm about to show you more).  So since there is no way I'm wrangling JDubbs into a rainbow-colored t-shirt, rainbow photos of my kids will have to do.  I'm sure you're all very shocked and saddened by that.  Sarcasm.

I am so very lucky to have these two children: a beautiful boy and girl, just what everyone dreams of, as people continue to remind me (unnecessarily, I assure you).  When we're in the grocery store and Em peeks her smiley face out from her bucket carseat, people always smile back and say, "Oh, and a girl, too!" (because of course they've already noticed Jax because he is that kid in aisle 8 screaming for the box of Crispix).  "A boy and a girl.  You're very lucky."  And I always smile and genuinely respond, "Yes, I am."  Two perfect, healthy children.  My heart's content.

That was five months ago, as you can tell from the lack of knee-deep snow.  Isn't she beautiful?  I am beyond lucky to have her.

And then there's this guy.

I could not have asked for a sweeter, smarter, funnier, happier little guy than my baby boy.  And growing into such a nice big brother.  I sure am lucky that he came first and that we figured this whole family thing out together.  My best buddy.

(Sidenote:  This is what he says when I ask him if I'm his best friend.  "Yes, Mama.  And Emmy.  And Daddy.  And Lightning McQueen.  And Mater."  He's a pretty popular kid!)

And to top off the photo shoot, as I'm trying desperately to get a good photo of him in his rainbow pj's for this assignment, he sits down to color and I know that I will thankfully get a picture of him not moving.  And what page does he turn to?  The picture of a rainbow.

Now if that isn't a sign, I don't know what is!

I've so enjoyed this group of photo assignments, and always love a reason to step back and be grateful for all the blessings in my life.  I truly am one of the luckiest girls I know, and I love being able to reflect on that and share the good news near and far.

Your kids are adorable. I believe we are blessed. Nothing to do with chance or luck, but thats just me. I had to come visit your blog just because of the adorable little boy's face with "Rub some dirt on it." underneath. I'm glad I did. I hope I didn't overstep with my comments. I just feel strongly when it comes to blessings vs. luck. Have a wonderful day! http://hisperfectpromises.blogspot.com/
