Can you believe this is already our third winter in Vermont? And can you believe that in those three years, I have shoveled the driveway, walkway, and deck a total of zero times? That tells you a lot about my outdoorsy and chivalrous husband, but don't forget that I've been busy carrying and having babies! JDubbs and I can't both be outside shoveling, because who would watch the kids, Baxter? And I'll just admit that I hate the cold and would probably break a hip or something. My coordination has been called into question once or twice.
So, when I saw an adorable toddler-sized snow shovel at The Christmas Tree Shoppe for three dollars, you're darn right I scooped that right up. Because I knew that there was nothing that could keep Jax away from helping out his dad this winter.
It started with his first lesson. Jax took copious notes.
Then we put him to work.
Fnally, he and Daddy stood around and surveyed their good work and thought about how much they deserved a cold beer/milk right about now.
And of course, it's not all work and no play around here. Especially with Baxter racing to eat the snow as it flew off the deck. Instant happiness, even in a wintery mix.
And Mommy's favorite part: the genuine smile of winter delight. Smile stretched to the limit, eyes little half-moons that are barely even open. Good for the soul.
What a great pair of boys I have!
Don't worry about me and Em this winter; we're well taken care of!
