Keeping Busy

I thought it was supposed to be April showers that bring May flowers?  So why is May so showery this year?  This week has been one giant sprinkling, keeping the ground just a little too wet to sit on and the air just a little too chilly to go out without jackets.  Really, Springtime?  Aren't you supposed to be in full effect by now?

So we've been doing a lot of indoor play lately, and Em is finally beginning to understand that she doesn't need to be attached to me every second of every day.  And that if she is, she'll be subjected to boring things like emptying the dishwasher, cleaning up after breakfast, folding laundry.  She's beginning to see that independent play has its advantages.  And on the off-chance that both my kids might be engaging in independent play simultaneously...well, that's just a glorious, quiet moment that I will relish (and apparently photograph).

Here's how we spend a quiet morning at home.

(Big thank you to Jaime for not only the collage idea, but also the use of her picnik account!)

We love...

Thievery

Beads

Mazes

And Friends

And the best part of the day was when Jax was playing with these two rhinos, and he started talking to them like they were alive.  Here was their conversation:

Jax:  Whatcha doin' rhino?
Rhino:  I'm going around and around.
Jax:  With your best friend?
Rhino:  Yes.  My best friend Mommy.

Happiness and smiles abound.

We're keeping busy and enjoying our days.  We couldn't ask for much more for our little family.

What about you?  How are you keeping busy on these rainy spring days?

My best friend Mommy! Oh my word, I think I almost cried at that... :)

Oh...I'm so sick of rainy weather. My girls are bouncing off the walls in frustration. It's harder to deal with rainy weather when the kids get old enough to have a pure craving to run, jump, play tag, climb trees, and do carwheels in the yard. I'm very close to loading them into their rain gear and sending them out to splash in the puddles.

Blessings,
Rosann

Yay for independent play (go Em!), and I'm loving the color blocking on this post. Brings out a totally different side of the pics.

I love the pictures and the collages! They look fantastic. So this was done with picnik? I really need to get started on that!
