Duck Tales

This post is dedicated to Tyler Dadej and Jordan Zeller, who inspired us to use the ducky tub. Also, I'd like to give thanks to Jaime Dadej and Shelley Fischer, without whom this post would not be possible, as Jax would still be in his little bath chair. This is way cooler :)

I had heard through the extensive network known as the New Mommy Grapevine that Jax absolutely, without question, had to have this ducky tub. It was equivalent to having air. Life could not go on without it. So it was a no-brainer that once Jax could sit and outgrew his little bathing chair that we needed this tub. The only problem was that we live in Middle of Nowhere, Vermont, where such things as ducky tubs have been deemed superfluous and therefore unnecessary. In other words, I couldn't find the damn thing.

Enter good mommy friends Erin and Jaime, who came to our rescue. Jaime purchased the tub for us at Target--something so simple and yet, so frustratingly difficult for us Vermonters--and Aunt Shelley brought it along with her when she came to steal Grand-Mere. And so, happily, we are now the proud owners of one humungous, bright yellow, squeaking ducky tub.

You know you're parents when you don't care that not even your bathroom is sacred--it now looks like a children's water park, complete with inflatable octopus faucet cover, invaluable Johnson & Johnson No More Tears baby wash, small rubber duckies, and oh yes, giant ducky tub. Baxter is definitely freaked out by it and it does make manuevering in our small bathroom a bit awkward, but these are the joys of parenting.

As you can see, Jax loves the ducky tub. Look at how comfortable he is in it, reclining like his dad sitting in a hot tub. All he needs is a beer and his conversion to manhood would be complete ;)

It's the perfect size for our little guy and the bottom has some kind of slide-proof surface so he can sit and play and we don't have to be terrified every moment that he is going to slip and go under. And I think our sense of ease is mirrored in Jax's comfort level in there--he took to it like...well, that cliche is just too easy...

The only thing that gets him out of his tub is the call of bedtime. As you can see, he's fighting hard to resist it, but he was very tired.

Night night, ducky tub!! See you tomorrow!
