Joy of Love #12

As I mentioned about a week ago, I'm somewhat participating in an online photography group/tutorial.  To me, it's a daily reminder to consciously acknowledge those I love.  It really rocks and the woman who is running it shares great tidbits to help with your daily assignment.  I thoroughly suggest you check it out and participate if you'd like!

So today's assignment was to photograph a loved one's eyes.  I love taking pictures of my kids' eyes, mostly because they're so damn beautiful and expressive.  I'm a total sucker for them and they know it; there's nothing like a tearful face to break my resolve and make me scoop them up in the middle of the night.  Also, the greatest compliment I have ever been paid as a mother was not on any kind of parenting technique or even something I could really take credit for.  It was from a grandmotherly woman who took one look at Jax and said with a knowing smile, "Now he has Paul Newman eyes."  Swoon.  Who wouldn't want their son to have Paul Newman eyes?  I'll never forget her.

Well, Jax was being far from cooperative for our photo shoot but my sneaky side won him over with a little novelty (in the form of a new mask) and a tiny dose of bribery (in the form of a lollipop).  So the best photos of his eyes came through the holes of a cardboard mask, found for $1 at Jo-Ann Fabrics.  But by best, I don't mean the best.  I mean the best of the ones that I got.  His eyes are a bit overshadowed.

They're quirky and different which is why I chose to post one of these pictures of Jax instead of the dreamy ones I got of Em earlier in the day (earlier in the day translates to much better lighting and a less grumpy child).  I'll show you those later.  For now, enjoy the photos of Jax.  They're a hoot!  Groan...

And because I'm an equal opportunity mama, here are some pictures of Em showing off her baby blues.

I couldn't get her to smile so I called in the big guns (Daddy).  Of course just the sight of him makes her smile, and she loves to show off how big she is.  "How big is Em?"

So big!  She loves that game.

So there are my blue-eyed babies.  The joy of love for me is getting to look into those eyes every day and watch their crinkly smiley gleam.  I just love them.
