Em's Baptism

"Jesus said to them, 'Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.  Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.' And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them." ~Mark 10:13-16

We are so proud to say that Em was baptized into the Catholic faith on Sunday, and that, not surprisingly to anyone who knows her, she was as sweet and happy as could be.

Not to mention, absolutely beautiful in her christening gown and headband.  This is the original ensemble that we ordered and had to suffer trials and tribulations to obtain, as you you may recall.  But we finally did receive it and she looked perfect, like the gift that she is.

We used a blanket her great-great grandmother crocheted to keep her warm.  That was such a special touch; thank you, Nana!

The ceremony was lovely and easy-going.  There was another little boy there being baptized, and with his older sibling, plus Tommy and Jax, there was a bit of a ruckus rumbling through the background of the service, but Father Francis just took it in stride and even invited the kids up to participate.  Jax came up for a quick observation before wiggling down and running back to Nana and Papa.  Em didn't even peep as Father poured the water over her head.

She's always been such a happy little girl. 

We were so happy to have Auntie Amanda and Uncle Tom act as godparents.  She couldn't be blessed with more loving and respected people to guide her through life.  Our children are certainly lucky to be surrounded by so many people who love them!

Afterward we went to a gathering at Nana and Papa's house to enjoy delicious food and great company as a big extended family, all together to celebrate Em's big day.  We are all so happy for her, and it showed throughout the afternoon.

JDubbs and I are so blessed with our two amazing children, and now they are blessed to be even better friends with God, as I like to think of baptism.  As Father Francis said, Jesus always loved them, now he just knows them a little better ;)
