What's New?

A rare free moment to document our first few weeks at home with Em.

Well, in a nutshell, it's been interesting, difficult, and very special all at the same time. Getting used to having two little people around has been easy. JDubbs and I are in love with Em and she seems to fit right in with our family like she's always been here. She has Baxter's seal of approval.

It's this little guy who's warming up a little slowly.

Of course, it doesn't help that the week Daddy went back to work, he was plagued with a terrible ear infection and three days of the worst fever of his life. Not to mention the fact that his mommy seemed to be constantly tending to the needs of this squirmy little bundle and wasn't always available for a cuddle. That was the worst part.

The saving grace was that Grammy was here for the week--THANK GOD. New baby, newly operated on mommy, new big brother all take some getting used to, and adding a terrible sickness into the mix would have been pretty darn impossible for me to handle on my own. But she was here, and Jax got all the love, attention, and antibiotics he needed to get better. And now that he's feeling better, he's giving Em a little more notice. He waves to her and gave her a toy today. I also think he contemplated running her over with his truck, but he resisted the urge. It's the little blessings.

So, here's what's new with Baby Em:

*She gained about a pound and is now in the 44th percentile for weight. That makes me smile because Jax was in the 95th percentile for weight for a long time. She's a dainty little thing.

*She eats a lot, but breastfeeding is going really well. Much better than I anticipated. I'm really enjoying it, although not as much in the middle of the night. Hopefully, JDubbs will help out with a nightly bottle soon.

*She snorts like a pig when she's hungry. Really! It's a noise unlike anything I've ever heard a baby make. She's our little Miss Piggy!

*Her hair is falling out and we think she might be blonde because her eyebrows and eyelashes are as fair as can be. She's going to look like a funny old man soon enough--she already has a receding hair line!

Well, my moment to myself is almost done, but I have many more pictures and a few stories to share when I have the time. Who knows when that may be, but I will try to make time to write down the little things as she grows and we all get used to being a foursome :) Maybe I'll even have a good picture of the two of them soon!
