Celebrating the 4th

We had a great 4th of July, mostly because we spent it with our families. There isn't much to write about since the weather wasn't too stellar, but being together with our extended families was great, especially being with kids because they get so into the holiday!

JZ got some batting practice in while we were waiting for Grammy, Grampy, and cousins Christian and Erika to arrive. He certainly looks like a slugger! And I promise he isn't on the juice--just formula!

Christian and Erika helped with Jax's bedtime routine. Here they are having a good snuggle before bathtime:

We saw the fireworks at Lake Pinneo in Quechee with friends and family. It was a beautiful sunset, but then it started to rain and continued to sprinkle throughout the fireworks display. Jax was exhausted after being up so late and he fell asleep just as the show started and never work up again until the next morning!

Our little family on Jax's first 4th of July
A great shot of Christian as we waited for the sun to set--he's getting so big! 9 years old!

The next morning was the 4th and we headed off to Woodstock, Vermont for the supposed big celebration they were going to have. No pictures of that since there wasn't much to see, but we did stop on the way there to do a little fishing. Christian has been dying to go fishing with his Uncle JDubbs on the Ottaqueeche River, and he and Erika both did a great job!
Here is Erika goofing around as usual--our own personal cheerleader!
And Christian mastered casting. Next time he comes up I have a feeling we'll be spending an entire day on the river or by the lake!
Finally, we arrived in Woodstock where the big to-do was a small carnival, not much to report on that one except Christian got the guy soaked in the dunk booth on his first throw! We were all really proud of him.

We met up with Nana, Papa, and Jen in Woodstock and then went over for dinner. Here is a picture of the men--wish Tom could have been there, too!

Overall it was a wonderful weekend filled with family, food, fun, and fireworks. That night Napa, Papa, JDubbs and I watched the sky turn colors from the Woodstock fireworks ten miles away! It was a beautiful ending to a great holiday.
God Bless America and may He watch over all our troops, near and far, especially David!
